Nervous & Awkward Adventurer
STUMBLING INTO ADVENTURE
Welcome!
Do you feel nervous or awkward stepping outside your comfort zone? Trapped in a daily routine and aren't sure how to get out? Do you want to explore, have memorable experiences, but in a way that feels safe, comfortable, and have fun doing it?
You're not alone, friend!
Hi I'm Danielle, a Nervous & Awkward Adventurer! Based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, I have loved adventure, travel, and tales of exploration as long as I can remember. But like so many I've struggled. Financially, near crippling nerves, overwhelming anxiety, dipping confidence all resulting in strained mental health (all of which that felt got worse in recent years!). Though I had always longed for travel and exploration, these felt like huge challenges to over come, and so in all honestly I never ever really thought I could be an explorer or adventurer.
Though there were some identifiable external reasons to explain these challenges, fast forward to 2023 at the age of 42, I was finally formally diagnosed with ADHD, in addition to learning I was in perimenopause! These diagnoses could have easily negatively impacted how I was feeling. But to my own surprise, it was so validating and empowering! Now I could start to address my challenges, learn to understand them - in order to live with them and in some cases - overcome them!
This period also threw me into deep reflection. Looking back over my life I realized I had missed out on so much, and made the decision to 'Lean Into Myself', and slowly but surely I started to embrace my awkward nerves. Now, I look forward to trying new things as often as I can (no matter how big or small) and have fun doing it! Especially, if I stumble and bumble along the way!
Through blogs and social media, I share my experiences in order to educate, inform, and inspire that not everyone is an 'Instagram' traveler, and you don't have to climb Mount Everest to be an explorer, but real life can be just as adventurous and exciting, and sometimes you just need a friend to go with along the way!
So, let's get out there and explore, and push our comfort zone boundaries together. Whether far from home or in your own backyard, there is always something out there to discover!
